Greetings in the name of our great ADVENT KING!
SUNDAY is the fourth & final Sunday of Advent. Each reading will again
help us focus on humility. I find taking time with the readings before
Sunday morning really enhances my worship experience. Try it, you'll like
it!
* Ezek. 34.25-31
* Psalm 8
* 1 Peter 1.18-20
I've been enjoying reading "Giving the Gift of Jesus", the DEVOTIONAL
BOOKLET put in your mailbox some weeks ago at the beginning of Advent. Hope
you have, too.
CHRISTMAS EVE, studies have shown, is one of the times unchurched are most
open to coming to worship services. So let's be watching for opportunities
to invite folks. As you recall, worship times are:
3:30children/family-focused), 5:15 and 7:00 pm. Plenty of red invitation
cards are available at the Welcome Center...help yourself. (And don't
forget one of my favorite worship times: CHRISTMAS DAY at 10 a.m.-more
low-keyed, but Spirit-permeated, nevertheless.)
No Sunday classes this week...take time to enjoy the gift of FELLOWSHIP
between services.
THOUGHTS for us all in the midst of the hubbub:
* "Let this Christmas season be a renewing of the mind of Christ in
our thinking, and a cleansing of our lives by his pure presence. Let his
joy come to our weary world through us." -- Gerald Kennedy
* "Santa Claus never died for anybody." - Craig Wilson
"May the God of hope fill you will all joy and peace as you trust in him, so
that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." -- Romans
15:13
Shalom in Him,
Pastor Mark
