Hello friends in Christ!

What a gorgeous Fall day God is giving us today; the color of many of the
trees is spectacular.  Enjoy!

Looking ahead to SUNDAY...

ARLEN SALTE will be with us.  (Be forewarned:  the chancel [platform] area
will be set up "concert style" to accomodate all those helping with the
worship, worship seminar and evening concert.)  Plan now to attend the
WORSHIP CONCERT at 6 pm Sunday evening...invite & bring a friend along!

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD is a fun way to show love to kids around the world
by filling a shoe box with inexpensive, caring gifts.  Boxes need to be
brought in by the 23rd.  Info is at display table.

Just 23 days 'til CREATE-A-GIFT 2003!   Kim Shervey
(kem.shervey at worldnet.att.net) tells me the biggest areas of need right now
are for craft helpers and kids' crafts.  Can you give of yourself to help
make this gift-to-our-community happen?  Like Fun & Friends, it's one of the
things for which BSLC is known for & appreciated for by our neighbors.

In Long Wandering PRAYER:  An Invitation to Walk with God, author David
Hansen shares the following thoughts based on Rom. 8:26-28:
"If when we are weak--when our prayers feel dead--the Spirit is praying for
us and through us, then those prayers must be better than the prayers we
pray when we feel strong.  Our weakest prayers in the Spirit are better than
our best prayers when we don't feel the need for the Spirit.  Our worst
prayers may be our best prayers.  How do we know what a good prayer is
anyway?  Do we know how we sound to God?  The prayers of the Spirit must be
the best, and the Spirit intervenes when we are weak." (p. 142)
