Hello friends,
The "Luther" movie kicks off this weekend. I hope you'll grab hold of a
chance to see it. Everything I've heard about it says it's exciting and
historically accurate. You might be surprised to discover the drama in the
man, his message, and his times. "Christ is no Moses, no exactor, no giver
of laws, but a giver of grace, a Savior; he is infinite mercy and goodness,
freely and bountifully giving to us." - Martin Luther
Wednesday Discipleship Training School continues tonight.
==Worship time begins at 6:30.
==Hosanna for kids 4-4th Grade is back, under the direction of Enid Ringo
(They're already working on a Christmas musical presentation!)
==Classes for all begin at 7:00.
And, speaking of Wednesdays, did you know Adult Choir will be kicking off
next Wednesday, Oct. 1? Time will be 6:30-8:00, starting out with the
worship time in the sanctuary. Director Vicki Knutsen can answer any
questions you might have.
Sunday's Readings are...
==Isaiah 2.13-18
==Isaiah 64.6-7
==1 Peter 2.9-110
Work on the new playground area of the building is proceeding along, soon
there will be lots of volunteer work opportunities. Until then, Don Gsell
tells me help is needed pounding in & tarring nail heads on the church roof,
as well as removing the accumulated gunk from the parking lot drains. He
can give you details about helping with these projects.
Ethel and I will be visiting family in beautiful Wisconsin these next days,
so there may not be a Pastorgr at m next week.
"Either sin is with you, lying on your shoulders, or it is lying on Christ,
the Lamb of God. Now if it is lying on your back, you are lost; but if it
is resting on Christ, you are free, and you will be saved. Now choose what
you want. According to law and justice, your sins should no doubt remain on
you; but grace has cast them upon Christ, the Lamb. If God were minded to
reason with us on other terms, we would be done for." -- Martin Luther in a
sermon from 1537
Joy and peace to you in Christ,
Pastor Mark
