April greetings!
First off, an update on Diane Roluffs as related to me from Pastor Chuck a
few minutes ago: "No change. Still in critical condition. No visitors,
please. There will only be updates if there is significant change. Your
prayers are appreciated."
Don Gsell asks me to remind you of the Beautification Day this Saturday
from 9 to 3, with lunch provided. He wrote me the following: "Could you
make special plea for me? I really need a lot of help. We are going to
remove all the wood chips from the old play area, level it off with pea
gravel, and cover it with the fabric so we can have it all done by the
following week. All this on top of trying to finish off the flower bed
work." So...Can you give some time and umph?
Palm Sunday is upon us! [Don't forget the TIME CHANGE Saturday night!] Take
a few moments to check out these Bible portions:
* Phil. 2:5-11 From the heights to the depths to the heights!
* Luke 19:28-40 The Palm Sunday story, but check out the verses
before & after, too.
If you haven't done so, there'll be opportunity to fill out the My Passion
questionnaire Sunday. (Or you could even fill it out here, cut & paste, &
send it to info at bslc.com <mailto:info at bslc.com> , after praying, of
course.) The questions are simple-
1. List a couple of the strongest things about BSLC.
2. List a couple places where BSLC is weak or things we could do
better.
3. If you had the power to change or fix anything in our world what
would it be? (Don't limit yourself to what is "reasonable".)
4. If I could see BSLC adopt any one vision, move in a certain
direction, or focus on one thing, it would be....
And, speaking of the Vision Process, don't forget to sign up for the 30 Hour
Prayer Vigil. A brochure is available to guide you in your chosen prayer
time. (No prayer...no vision!)
Holy Week & Easter Schedule:
* Maundy Thursday - 7 p.m. We gather at the Lord's Table
* Good Fridy - 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. We gather at the Lord's Cross.
(Evening service will conclude with Tenebrae.)
* Resurrection Celebrations - 7:00, 9:15, and 11:00 a.m. Free
Breakfast between. Use a card to invite friends!
Something to think about from Lloyd Ogilvie:
"Our need to be in charge of ourselves, others, and situations often makes
our relationship with Christ life's biggest power struggle. We are
reluctant to relinquish our control and allow Him to run our lives. We may
believe in Him and be active in the church and Christian causes, but
trusting Him as Lord of everything in life can be scary. Even though we
pray about our challenges and problems, all too often what we really want is
strength to accomplish what we've already decided is best for ourselves and
others."
Joy and peace in Jesus,
Pastor Mark
