"May the Lord direct your hearts into God's love and perseverance." 1 Thess.
3:5

Hello friends!

What a delightful experience last Sunday was for me! Ethel & I really
appreciate the untold numbers of kind, encouraging, & affirming words we
received as a quarter century of ministry at BSLC was observed. I had no
idea there was such a variety of pastor appreciation cards out there-wow!
I'm looking forward to using the GPS (Global Positioning System) device;
I've wanted one for quite some time. Your generosity and gracious words
mean so very much to me; what a privilege to be on the receiving end of such
an outpouring!

Sunday's-a-comin'. We'll be tuning into what God says to us through these
words, especially the Luke reading. Question: What do you have your "heart
set on"?
*	Genesis 15.1-6
*	Hebrews 11.1-3,8-16
*	Luke 12.32-40

Don't forget our annual Project: Back to School blitz via the Salvation
Army. Bring in new school supplies of whatever kind: pencils, pens, paper,
backpacks, calculators, felt markers, pencil pouches, spiral notebooks,
computer disks......you get the idea! Receptacle is in Cloak Room. Thanks
to Judy Vetsch for providing leadership on this.

Mystery Cross: Have you noticed the beautiful stained glass encircled cross
above the south entrance to the foyer area? I saw it upon returning from
vacation, but can't find out who put it there. Any clues? Thanks to
whomever!

A little something for your heart from the classic book by William Law
(1686-1761), A Serious Call to A Devout and Holy Life:

"If we are going to pray for the Spirit of God, we must make that Spirit the
rule of all our actions. Just as it is our duty to look wholly unto God in
our prayers, so it is our duty to live wholly unto God in our lives. But we
cannot live wholly unto God unless we live unto Him in all the ordinary
actions of our life, unless He is the rule and measure of all our ways, just
as we cannot pray wholly unto God unless our prayers look wholly unto Him."

Yours and His,
Pastor Mark

"Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every
way. The Lord be with all of you." - 1 Thess. 3:16
