Hello friends!
>From Summer to Fall in just a couple of hours-what interesting weather God's
giving us!
Sunday's a-comin'. We'll be taking a close look at these Scriptures (all
3!) to see how God uses pain in our lives. Can you see the thread that runs
through them all? Prepare your heart by spending time with each:
* Jeremiah 23.23-29......!
* Hebrews 12.1-12........!
* Luke 12.49-53...........!
No Sunday classes, so we have extra time to visit. Lots of folks were at
Crooked River last weekend. Ask them about their experience!
New Sunday Classes begin September 12. They will include a Women's Class, a
Men's Class, the Believing class, a class for those interested in reading
Scripture in worship, and another class still being finalized. Kids'
Classes begin that day, as well.
Telma asks me to pass along a recommendation for a movie she says is
outstanding, called "Benji Off the Leash." It's at Lloyd Center & Division
St at 166th. See www.benji.com <http://www.benji.com> for info.
Here's a little something for your heart from Thomas Kelly (1893-1941):
"Begin now, as you read these words, as you sit in your chair, to offer your
whole selves, utterly and in joyful abandon, in quiet, glad surrender to Him
who is within. In secret ejaculations of praise, turn in humble wonder to
the Light, faint though it may be. Keep contact with the outer world of
sense and meanings. Here is no discipline in absentmindedness. Walk and
talk and work and laugh with your friends. But behind the scenes, keep up
the life of simple prayer and inward worship. Let inward prayer be your
last act before you fall asleep and the first act when you awake." From:
Testament of Devotion
In His love,
Pastor Mark
