Hello friends,

Good news...Little Erin Norah Luedemann arrived safely this morning to
Melissa & Pastor Pete!

Today I saw the results of the Yellow Bag Food Drive and was delighted to
see the huge outpouring of stuff from the BSLC Family that will bless many,
many people in a very practical way. Good going, bros and sisters!

Thursday is the National Day of Prayer. May I encourage you to spend some
special time alone in prayer for our nation and/or join others at church at
either noon or 7 p.m.

Sunday's a-comin! The readings for the day are here for you to take a look
at:
*	John 13:31-35
*	Acts 13:44-48
*	Revelation 21:1-6 (This will be the basis of the sermon.)
*	Do any of you actually look these up before Sunday? If you do, let
me know.
*	Also Sunday: Stephen Ministry Commissioning of 4 new trained
Stephen Ministers!
*	And: a special musical surprise.

Vicki Knutsen is asking that the last rehearsal and song of this choir
season be something of an "Alumni Gathering" of The Alleluia Chorus. On
Sunday, May 16 rehearsal at 6:30 pm will be a chance to prepare the song
we'll sing ("The Spirit and the Bride Say 'Come'") as well as sing a lot of
the other songs of yesteryear. She's asked me to help lead it & I'm looking
forward to seeing you there. The song will be shared in both worship
services on Sunday, May 23. (I chose that song because a) it fits the theme
of the service that day, b) it's easy, and c) I like it!) Any and all are
welcome; treats and refreshments afterwards, too!

This Sunday's the last day to support one of us walking in the P.R.C. Steps
for Life.

Red Cross Blood Drive coming up Tuesday, May 18.

The following is from Thomas Merton (1915-1968) on the subject of prayer:

"One cannot begin to face the real difficulties of the life of prayer and
meditation unless one is first perfectly content to be a beginner and really
experience himself as one who knows little or nothing and has a desperate
need to learn the bare rudiments. Those who think they 'know' from the
beginning will never, in fact, come to know anything.... We do not want to
be beginners. But let us be convinced of the fact that we will never be
anything else but beginners." -- from Contemplative Prayer

Just beginning,
Pastor Mark
