Hello friends!

Wow-what a response to my question last week about the weekly readings! Too
many to respond to individually, but what an encouragement that a) people
actually read this, and (more importantly) b) lots of you are taking time to
prepare for worship by digging into the Word! So..."by popular demand" :-)
here are the Sunday Scripture Readings...
*	Psalm 37:1-7...godly wisdom
*	Gal. 5:16-18...live by promptings of the Spirit
*	Luke 18:18-30...eternal life a gift.

As I mentioned last week, Vicki Knutsen is asking that the last rehearsal
and song of this choir season be something of an "Alumni Gathering" of The
Alleluia Chorus. This Sunday rehearsal at 6:30 pm will be a chance to
prepare the song we'll sing ("The Spirit and the Bride Say 'Come'") as well
as sing a lot of the other songs of yesteryear. She's asked me to help lead
it & I'm looking forward to seeing you there. The song will be shared in
both worship services on Sunday, May 23. (I chose that song because a) it
fits the theme of the service that day, b) it's easy, and c) I like it!)
Any and all are welcome; treats and refreshments afterwards, too! Current
choir members are, of course, also very welcome.

Mike & Shannon Morrison told me we gathered over 1500 pounds of goods in our
Yellow Bag campaign...3/4 of a ton!

I hope you're planning to take in the Hosanna kids special concert next
Wednesday evening at 7 pm, called "Cross Country"...it's bound to both fun &
a blessing. Supper, as usual, begins at 7 pm.

Does anyone have a stationery bike they're not using? A member with real
physical needs is in great need of getting a hold of one. If you could loan
it, please let me know.

Please be in prayer for Saturday's Vision Summit meeting as we continue our
work of dreaming and planning.

To think about:

"We cannot always or even often control events, but we can control how we
respond to them. When things happen which dismay or appall, we ought to
look to God for His meaning, remembering that He is not taken by surprise
nor can His purposes be thwarted in the end. What God looks for is those
who will worship Him in the midst of every circumstance. Our look of
inquiring trust glorifies Him. This is our first responsibility: to
glorify God. In the face of life's worst reversals and tragedies, the
response of a faithful Christian is praise-not for the wrong itself,
certainly, but for who God is and for the ultimate assurance that there is a
pattern being worked out for those who love Him. - Elisabeth Elliot in A
Lamp for My Feet

Trusting Him,
Pastor Mark
