"May the Lord direct your hearts into God's love and Christ's perseverance."
- 2 Th 3.5

Hi!

Ethel & I had a terrific visit in Wisconsin, visiting my 90 yr old folks,
her mom (almost 98), as well as numerous family members. What a privilege,
we realize, to have such a rich heritage!

Sunday stuff:  check out...
*	Hebr 2:14-15
*	1 Tm 6:6-10
*	1 Jn 4:16-19
Classes started off strong; if you were missing, it's not too late to jump
in!  Great choices.
I'm told it's the last Sunday to sign up for the Church Directory Photos.
If you don't do it then, they'll have to track you down on the phone.
Also Sunday: sign up to help out at the 10/31 Harvest Festival. Watch for
the insert that gives details.

MEN!
*	Don't forget to register for the Men's Retreat this Sunday. Great
program & opportunity...don't miss out.  (Cost=$50, $20 deposit...Dates:
9/24-25...Excellent speakers & grub)
*	Sign up, too, for the Men's Appreciation Dinner on 10/2. Excellent
food & outdoor theme; bring/invite a friend.
*	The Sunday Measure of a Man class is open to you.

I found the following very intriguing insights on temptation in my reading
this morning from Oswald Chambers' My Utmost for His Highest:

"A person's inner nature, what he possesses in the inner, spiritual part of
his being, determines what he is tempted by on the outside. The temptation
fits the true nature of the person being tempted and reveals the
possibilities of his nature. Every person actually determines or sets the
level of his own temptation, because temptation will come to him in
accordance with the level of his controlling, inner nature... Temptation is
not something we can escape; in fact, it is essential to the well-rounded
life of a person.... God does not save us from temptation-He sustains us in
the midst of them (see Hebr. 2.18 & 4.15-16)."

In the midst,
Pastor Mark
"Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every
way. The Lord be with all of you." - 2 Th. 3:16
