<p><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2"><strong>Moving your web site to Infinity Internet</strong>
<p>Once you setup an account with Infinity Internet, there are a few steps you'll need to take to make your web site transition smooth and painless.</p>
<p><strong>Transferring your files</strong></p>
<p>First, you'll need a copy of your current web site files. If you don't have a copy on your
computer, you'll need to retrieve the files from your current hosting provider. Most
companies use FTP (File Transfer Protocol) which allows someone to move files from one
place to another.</p>
<p>The login information you'll need is available by contacting your current hosting provider.
Once you have your login information, you'll need an FTP program such as WS_FTP (Windows) or
Transmit (Mac). Both have free trial versions available which you can search for at
<a href="http://www.download.com" target="_blank">www.download.com</a>.</p>
<p>Now, that you've got your FTP program and login information for your old host, you can
transfer your files to your computer.</p>
<p>Once you have a complete copy of your web site on your computer, you can then upload it to
your new hosting account with Infinity Internet. Again, you'll need your login information
which you should receive upon signup. FTP to the server using your program of choice and
upload your files into the "/public _html" directory and you're ready to go!</p>
<p><strong>Testing your site</strong></p>
<p>Once you've uploaded your site, you'll want to browse around to make sure there are no
broken links and that all of your images work. Depending on how the site may have been
laid out with your old provider, you may need to edit some of the code to fit the new
hosting.</p>
<p><strong>Update Name Servers</strong></p>
<p>Now that you're site has been moved, you'll need to contact your Domain Registrar
to change your Name Servers. Typically you'll have an account code and password and can
make the change on their web site (such as www.dotster.com). You'll want to "point"
your web site to:
<ul type="square">
<li>Primary Name Server: <strong>ns1.iinet.com</strong></li>
<li>Secondary Name Server: <strong>ns2.iinet.com</strong></li>
<li>Tertiary Name Server (optional): <strong>ns3.iinet.com</strong></li>
</ul>
Please be aware that it may take up to 72 hours for the changes to take
effect. Once you've made the registration changes, wait a week or
2 to make sure the web site is working the way you think it should
and then you can contact your old provider to close your account.
This minimizes any potential downtime while the web site is moved.
