Free Web Hosting Set-Up!

For the month of February new web hosting customers on approved contracts will not be charged a set-up fee. That is a savings of up to $50.00! To enjoy this savings, please quote the promo code NL0204. To inquire about web hosting service call 800-469-1424.

Popup Blocker!

At Infinity Internet, we are always searching for new ways to make our client’s online experience more enjoyable. Infinity Internet is thrilled to offer a FREE popup blocker to our valued customers. Connect to the new IINet Popup Blocker on line.

We also have some FAQ’s for you on the Popup Blocker. Please go to FAQ’s on this new product and click on the text link "IINet Popup Blocker" in the "Browsing the Web FAQ" section.

Mac and Netscape Users:

Our introduction of popup blocking software has been received very well. We realize that not everyone uses a windows PC and runs Internet Explorer, so for our customers using Macs, or those using Netscape, we would suggest giving Mozilla a try. It contains popup-blocking software, and is fast, reliable, and flexible.

Anti-Spam Program!

The Spam epidemic isn't just affecting E-mail users. The people who provide those services are being hit on the bottom line. Infinity Internet is registered on the Washington state Anti-spam Registry. This is a system very similar to the one planned under the new Federal Anti-spam Law. The registry relies upon spammers to stop sending to the people on it. But, the registry does not automatically block the spammers.

This does not mean you are helpless. In fact, there are several layers of defense Infinity Internet uses. The first one, is filtering 90% of the mail before you ever see it. The trouble is, the remaining 10% can be overwhelming. So, the second line of defense comes from SpamAssassin. After logging in click on Manage Email Filters.

SpamAssassin is pretty effective. It resides on Infinity Internet's server, so there is nothing to download. You pick keywords that you do not want to get. Then you decide whether to mark the mail as Spam and it will be deleted before you ever see it.

There is also free anti-spam software out there to download on to your computer. Mailwasher is one of them.

So to summarize, your Spam Defense is:

  • Behind the Scenes - Infinity Internet filters out 90% of the spam before you ever see it.
  • Infinity Internet Online Tools - SpamAssassin. You can set your own filter levels (the next article - Spam Filtering - Custom Rules - describes how to use SpamAssassin).
  • Downloadable Tools - Mailwasher!
  • Extra E-mail Account - Have an account for online shopping etc. and a personal account. If you use the first account for anything you submit online, then a majority of your Spam should end up there. Doing that will free up your personal account.
  • Treat your e-mail account as your own mailing address. Hand it out only to those you know.
Spam Filtering - Custom Rules!

We have installed two Spam (junk mail) filters - SpamAssassin and Spam Filtering. These should not be confused with Bess, a product that we also offer should you wish to ensure your computer has Adult filtering for Web access.

The first filter - called SpamAssassin, scans the e-mail just before it is deposited in your e-mail account. It maintains a scoring system for various content in the messages that it is scanning. If the software records too many points or hits the message will be discarded and not delivered to your mailbox.

To configure SpamAssassin after logging in, click on Manage Email Filters:

  • First you have to enable SpamAssassin
  • Then click on the link to set options (Click Here to set SpamAssassin Options)
  • SpamAssassin has different filtering levels:
    1. low (20.0)
    2. medium (10.0)
    3. aggressive (5.0)
    4. *custom

    5. *Note: the custom level is the only one you can change for specific types of filtering. But if you want to create filters it is best to use Spam Filtering.
The SpamAssassin web site also offers more information on this effective product.

Spam Filtering allows you to set up different criteria such as certain types of message attachments. Viruses for example typically are specific file types, which the filter will detect and try to prevent from getting to your mailbox. We have installed several different filtering rules as examples for you to use.

To set up custom rules for Spam Filtering log into UserConsole and click on Manage Email Filters. The Email filter needs to be enabled.

  • Click on Click Here to Edit Filtering Rules.
  • Click on Add a Custom Rule.
  • Name: This is the name for the custom filter.
  • Description: This is a short description, can be the same as your name for the filter.
  • Condition field: this is the field that the filter will check.
    1. Sender
    2. Subject
    3. Body
    4. Recipient
  • Condition Value: This is any text that you want to find in the field just selected.
  • Action: This is what you want done with the email that has the value selected.
  • Forward to: This is an optional, but if you want to forward the Spam to some other email address you can.

Both of these filters are off by default for all of our accounts. If you would like to enable mail filtering you can activate it.

Popup Blocker!

A= t Infinity Internet, we are always searching for new ways to make=20 our client=92s online experience more enjoyable. Infinity Internet= is=20 thrilled to offer a FREE popup blocker to our valued customers. Connect= =20 to the new IINet Popup Blocker on line.

We also have some FAQ=92s for you on the Popup Blocker. Please g= o to=20 FAQ=92= s on this new product and click on the=20 text link "IINet Popup Blocker" in the "Browsing the Web FAQ" sect= ion.

Mac and Netscape Users:

Our introduction of popup blocking software has been received ve= ry=20 well. We realize that not everyone uses a windows PC and runs Inte= rnet=20 Explorer, so for our customers using Macs, or those using Netscape= ,=20 we would suggest giving Mozilla a try. It contains=20 popup-blocking software, and is fast, reliable, and flexible.

Anti-Spam Program!=20

T= he Spam epidemic isn't just affecting E-mail users. The people who=20 provide those services are being hit on the bottom line. Infinity = Internet=20 is registered on the Washington state Anti-spam Registry. This is = a=20 system very similar to the one planned under the new Federal Anti-= spam=20 Law. The registry relies upon spammers to stop sending to the peop= le=20 on it. But, the registry does not automatically block the spammers= .=20

This does not mean you are helpless. In fact, there are several = layers=20 of defense Infinity Internet uses. The first one, is filtering 90%= of=20 the mail before you ever see it. The trouble is, the remaining 10%= can=20 be overwhelming. So, the second line of defense comes from SpamAssassin.=20 After logging in click on Manage Email Filters.=20

SpamAssassin is pretty effective. It resides on Infinity Interne= t's=20 server, so there is nothing to download. You pick keywords that yo= u=20 do not want to get. Then you decide whether to mark the mail as Sp= am=20 and it will be deleted before you ever see it.

There is also free anti-spam software out there to download on t= o=20 your computer. Mailwasher is=20 one of them.

So to summarize, your Spam Defense is:=20

  • Behind the Scenes - Infinity Internet filters out 90% of the s= pam=20 before you ever see it.
  • Infinity Internet Online Tools - SpamAssassin.=20 You can set your own filter levels (the next article - Spam Filt= ering=20 - Custom Rules - describes how to use SpamAssassin).
  • Downloadable Tools - Mailwasher!
  • Extra E-mail Account - Have an account for online shopping etc= .=20 and a personal account. If you use the first account for anythin= g=20 you submit online, then a majority of your Spam should end up th= ere.=20 Doing that will free up your personal account.
  • Treat your e-mail account as your own mailing address. Hand it= out=20 only to those you know.
Spam Filtering - Custom Rules!

We have= installed two Spam (junk mail) filters - SpamAssassin and Spam Filtering. = These should not be confused with Bess, a product that we also offer should = you wish to ensure your computer has Adult filtering for Web access.

The first filter - called SpamAssassin, scans the e-mail just before it is deposited in yo= ur e-mail account. It maintains a scoring system for various content in the = messages that it is scanning. If the software records too many points or hit= s the message will be discarded and not delivered to your mailbox.

To configure SpamAss= assin after logging in, click on Manage Email Filters:

  • First you have to enable SpamAssassin
  • Then click on the link to set options (Click Here to set SpamAss= assin Options)
  • SpamAssassin has different filtering levels:
    1. low (20.0)
    2. medium (10.0)
    3. aggressive (5.0)
    4. *custom

    5. *Note: the custom level is the only one you can change for specific types = of filtering. But if you want to create filters it is best to use Spam Filte= ring.
The SpamAssassin w= eb site also offers=20 more information on this effective product.

Spam Filtering allows you to set up different criteria suc= h as certain types of message attachments. Viruses for example typically ar= e specific file types, which the filter will detect and try to prevent from = getting to your mailbox. We have installed several different filtering rules= as examples for you to use.

To set up custom rules for Spam Filtering log into UserConsole and click on Manage E= mail Filters. The Email filter needs to be enabled.

  • Click on Click Here to Edit Filtering Rules.
  • Click on Add a Custom Rule.
  • Name: This is the name for the custom filter.
  • Description: This is a short description, can be the same as your name= for the filter.
  • Condition field: this is the field that the filter will check.
    1. Sender
    2. Subject
    3. Body
    4. Recipient
  • Condition Value: This is any text that you want to find in the field = just selected.
  • Action: This is what you want done with the email that has the value = selected.
  • Forward to: This is an optional, but if you want to forward the Spam = to some other email address you can.

Both of these filters are off by default for all of our accounts.= If you would=20 like to enable mail filtering you=20 can activate it.
