St. Monica School takes a "PAWS" for reading!

 

You've wondered.you've waited.it's finally here!  St. Monica students,
teachers, and families will find out what happens "if all of St. Monica
reads the same book."  This year's book is "Love That Dog" by Sharon Creech.

 

On Thursday, March 8th at 12:30pm, St. Monica School will "paws" for an
all-school reading celebration.  Joining us will be our own St. Monica
celebrities-Father Kemp, Father Maurice, and Mrs. Dellino-as well as local
celebrities from the Mercer Island Fire Department, Mercer Island Police
Department, and Reading with Rover therapy dogs.  This will be an exciting
opportunity for the entire school to stop, drop, and READ together.  Family
and friends are welcome to join us-bring your favorite read!

 

Make sure to check your Wednesday packet on March 14th for your family's
copy of our "All St. Monica Reads." book (provided by Parent Club monies).
Please join us by reading "Love That Dog" with your family and talking about
the book with others in the St. Monica community!  Taking a page from the
successful "If All of Seattle Read the Same Book" program, we will benefit
from the opportunity to share our reading experiences with classmates,
families, teachers, friends, and neighbors.

 

Can't get enough reading?  Mark your calendar now to join us at the Book
Fair, March 14th-18th.  You will have the opportunity to purchase many
wonderful books for your .  Note ourJfamily.see Mrs. Yusko's suggestions for
other great dog books  special family event-Sunday, March 18th after 9:30AM
Mass.

 

Finally, to culminate our school-wide reading activities, author and poet
Janet Wong will be visiting our school on Monday, April 23rd!  Stay tuned
for details...

 

If you would like to purchase additional copies of "Love That Dog" or are a
church family that would like to read with us, Island Books is offering a
20% discount for St. Monica families...just mention our "One Book, One
School" project!
