An excellent parent ed program is coming up this Thursday:


*    Facing the Tweenage Years April 24, 7pm, Islander Middle School Library


 

The years between 11 and 13 can be the most challenging for parents.
Children's minds and bodies are changing, while their social lives take on
new meaning and they begin the push for independence.  However these years
can also be a time for discovery and bonding, laying the groundwork for a
successful relationship through the teen years.  Learn parenting strategies
to avoid power struggles and support and celebrate your delightful,
maddening tween.

 

Jan Faull, M.Ed., has taught parent education for more than 25 years.  She
is a recognized speaker to a wide variety of parenting organizations and
conducts regular classes at Overlake Hospital.  Jan developed a training
program along with a team from the Comprehensive Health Education Foundation
titled "Social Beginnings: Guiding Children Toward Positive Behavior."  You
may have taken tips from her weekly parenting column in the Saturday Seattle
Times.  Jan is known for her practical, wise advice, delivered with a sense
of humor.
