The Parents' Club at Sacred Heart School in Bellevue would like to invite
the parents and parishioners of St. Monica School to attend the discussion
by Julie Metzger (see below) next Wednesday, January 16th.

Sacred Heart Parents' Club is pleased to welcome our January guest speaker,
Julie Metzger, RN, MN. She is a pediatric nurse, writer and educator as well
as a nurse consultant at Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center.   

*	Date: Wednesday, January 16th at 7pm 
*	Location: Sacred Heart Church in Bellevue 
*	Who can attend: Everyone is welcome from our school as well as any
others - please spread the word! (The subject matter mostly pertains to
parents of 4th graders and older)  
*	Cost: Free! (but priceless child-raising advice) 

Topic: Staying Close while Standing Back- The Art and Science of Parenting
Adolescents Description: One of the greatest balancing acts parents face in
today's world is knowing when to step forward to support and guide their
adolescent's life and when to let their child make independent decisions and
choices for themselves.  These moments can be as simple as determining what
they wear that day to a decision to not attend college. What are the unique
characteristics in the development of adolescents -what is the work they
need to accomplish and information they need to be resilient and responsible
adults?  What are the choices today's kids are making and how can we
encourage them to make safe decisions?  What is our work as parents and
trusted adults and what are specific strategies for families to work
together in a partnership of trust and respect during the teen years?
